ABOUT THE GOCEDC
This cooperative organization held its initial meeting on May 20, 1997, with representatives from the cities of Seymour and New London; the villages of Hortonville and Shiocton; the Town of Liberty; Wisconsin Electric Power Company (WE Energies); the Oneida Nation; and, Outagamie County. That initial meeting resulted in an understanding that by working together we could be more effective in promoting Outagamie County as a great place to do business, as well as a wonderful place to raise a family. The group developed a mission statement (see home page) and efforts were directed toward developing a program of work. They have been cooperating in economic development efforts since then. Some of the accomplishments of the organization include:

Developed an industrial park listing for Outagamie County. | |

Prepared an Outagamie County Economic Profile, which was published with the cooperation of Wisconsin Electric Power Company. | |
|
Participated in a three county labor market study. | |
|
Established contacts with state economic development organizations, specifically Forward Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Economic Development Association and the Wisconsin Department of Commerce. | |
|
Provided funding for two printings of the Tri-Rivers Nature Area brochure. | |
|
Co-sponsored a series of business management educational programs with the University of Wisconsin Extension. | |
|
Coordinated the preparation of the Outagamie County Economic Resource Guide, which was competed by American Images Publishing. | |
|
Coordinated the production of an Industrial Park Guide with financial assistance from the Wisconsin Department of Commerce and Wisconsin Electric Power Company. | |
|
Developed and maintain a web site for the organization (gocedc.org). | |
|
Co-sponsored a regional tourism workshop with the University of Wisconsin Extension and the Wisconsin Department of Tourism. | |
|
Developed a print advertising campaign to raise the awareness of the organization and to provide member communities broader exposure. To date, the organization has placed ads in the following publications: |

o Marketplace Magazine (1999 – 2002)
o The Business Journal (2000)
o Corporate Report Wisconsin (2000 – 2002)
o Outagamie County Plat Book (2002 - 2004)

Provided leadership in business prospect inquiries. | |

Provided funding assistance to local member communities for economic development/community development projects. To date, the following community projects have been awarded grants: |
o Town of Freedom ($1,000) – Community Square project
o Village of Hortonville ($362.50) – Consumer opinion survey
o City of Seymour ($592.50) – Consumer opinion survey
o Village of Nichols ($574.91) – Main Street flags and banners

Represented Outagamie County at a trade show booth at the Experimental Aircraft Association convention in Oshkosh. | |

Coordinated a meeting with the Wisconsin Central Railroad and local communities to discuss the proposed merger with Canadian National Railroad and the possible implications for local rail service. | |
|
Coordinated a meeting with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the local communities to discuss the potential Rails-To-Trails conversion of the Green Bay to New London railroad. | |
|
Represents Outagamie County on the Northeast Wisconsin Regional Economic Partnership (NEWREP) Board. | |
|
Developed a County tourism booklet with a focus on nature-based activities. |
